HISTORY In 1974 a few families from the Coquitlam area, who were attending Surrey Alliance Church, began praying about how to start an Alliance Church in Coquitlam. Under the leadership of Rev. Mel Shareski, the senior pastor of Surrey Alliance, thirty families received a letter exploring the possibility of starting such a church. The response prompted the beginning of a Bible Study at Oliver and Verna Pederson's home in early October of 1974.
On November 8, nine families were represented at a meeting at the Reimer home with Rev. McIntyre, the District Superintendent, and plans were laid to begin services in January 1975.
The first service was held at Ranch Park School on January 19 with thirty-six people attending. Rev. Shareski preached the sermon that morning. The small congregation continued to meet each week with Rev. Ted Colley leading us and bringing us God's Word.
Rev. Jim Gunzel wasc called to serve as pastor at Coquitlam Alliance and he agreed to come in July 1975.
In September 1975 we moved to Austin Avenue and rented a small church building. Then in June 1976 we moved again to Mundy Road Elementary.
After five plus years of packing and unpacking all materials, chairs and such like each Sundy, the church family was looking forward to a more permanent meeting place. After eight very busy months and countless hours of volunteer labour, this building was ready and the first service was held in April 1981. God had greatly blessed this congregation over the years and all praise goes to Him for His faithfulness.
